As the nation gets behind England this World Cup, we’re proud to be supporting fans every step of the way no matter what country you are supporting. Whether you’re watching from home, heading to a fan zone, or cheering in the local pub, we hope you enjoy the game safely and responsibly. 

Throughout the tournament, we’ll be working hard to keep you safe. You can expect increased drink and drug drive checkpoints, proactive NightSafe patrols alongside Project Vigilant, and a continued focus on protecting vulnerable people. We’ll also be responding quickly and robustly to any reports of domestic abuse. 

NightSafe patrols 
You’ll see enhanced NightSafe patrols in town centres and busy night-time economy areas. These patrols focus on providing a reassuring presence, supporting venues, helping vulnerable people, and preventing incidents before they escalate. If you need assistance on a night out, don’t hesitate to approach an officer. 

Project Vigilant 
Working alongside partners, we’ll be proactively tackling predatory behaviour through Project Vigilant. This includes plain clothed and uniformed patrols identifying and intervening where individuals may pose a risk to others, particularly those identified as vulnerable. The aim is to spot the warning signs early and take action to prevent harm.

Domestic abuse 
While most people enjoy the football safely, we know that major sporting events can sometimes lead to an increase in domestic abuse. We take all reports extremely seriously and will respond quickly and robustly. If you or someone you know is at risk, please reach out, support is available, and you will be listened to.

Drink Drug Drive  

We’ll be stepping up enforcement activity throughout the tournament to tackle drink and drug driving, with increased roadside checks and targeted operations across the area. 

If you’re planning to drink while watching the game, please plan ahead, arrange a lift, book a taxi, or use public transport. 

Remember alcohol and drugs stay in your system longer than you think, you may still be over the limit the next day.  

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts lives at risk, and we will take firm action against anyone found doing so.
